Starforce or not, it has been compromised, so I have none of that crap on my machine so I can enjoy the game like we should be able to. I would be happy to answer any questions, and perhaps I will post some screenshots when I get back onto my desktop. During the derby, the host opened up all cars including bonus cars, and it was funny to see a Batmobile lookalike going headon against a schoolbus.Īll in all, it's really an enjoyable game. Was in a couple demolition derbies and one stunt competition. I only partook of the online multiplayer a couple times, but it seems fun. You instead get the choice of 5 or 6 really over-the-top stunt cars that have jet engines mounted on them. The biggest change is that you don't use your career cars in the stunts. The minigames that returned from the first game have all been modified a little bit. There are about a dozen now, ranging from them bringing back the High Jump, Darts, and Bowling to new stunts like the Ring of Fire, Soccer, Football, and Baseball. And now finally, you have the option of choosing trucs.įlatout 1 was all about the minigames. The 3 classes of car (Derby, Street, and Race) are all varied and are similar to real world cars in their design and characteristics. You also gain money now for messing up your opponents during the race. You gain nitro when you get big air now, and you can actually wreck your car during races. Debris now has a very definite effect on your car if you run over it. You can now keep more than one car in your garage as well. It's not uncommon to win by 20-30s now assuming you earn it. As best as I can tell, rubberbanding has been removed from the sequel. My primary beef with the racing in Flatout 1 was the rubberbanding and the ability to only have one car in your garage at a time.
Gameplay has changed pretty significantly. Graphics are a big step up from Flatout 1 (which weren't too bad themselves). Just like Flatout 1, you don't need a monster machine to run it well. Regardless, there are ways to bypass it now and they work fine. To get this out of the way early, yes it contains Starforce, although apparently the US version uses Securom 7 instead. I enjoyed Flatout 1 a lot and still play it sporadically on my laptop, so I was really looking forward to seeing what the sequel offered. I installed it on my desktop on Friday and have put about 10-15 hours into it so far and I thought I would share my opinions of the game. With the exception of one other thread about Flatout 2 comparing it to Carmageddon ( - View image here: -), there hasn't been any talk of this game yet.
